Welcome to your new full time job!

It's hard work getting a job. Most of us hate the process of searching through a seemingly endless list of vacancies,  and let's be serious.... no one likes sending their resume into the abyss for their dream job, never to hear back from the internet trolls who so closely guard dream jobs these days.  I know very few people that genuinely enjoy going on interviews, and unless they actually get the job they're interviewing for, most aren't pleased with the process either.

I can't solve all the problems with job searching, but I hope I will be able to lend you some perspective, and help you set some reasonable expectations for yourself which may make the whole process a little less painful.

  1. Can you give us any hope of real employment or are companies trying to save money by exploiting new workers? It seems like any entry level position these days includes at least a year in contract at a minimum, where you have no hope of vacation, benefits or job stability.

  2. I don’t think that companies are maliciously looking to exploit people, but I do think they'd like to ensure that with the volume of people out there applying for positions, they are able to be selective, and minimize commitment / cost. The contract-to-perm scenario does often happen for entry level positions, and there are a number of non-malicious reasons for this (which I can't quickly / easily explain on here.)

If you keep reading, I will try to give you ideas and options to help differentiate you from your competition in the market, and help you understand the mentality of the employers out there. That should make it a little more palatable, leave you feeling less disappointed… and hopefully help you land your dream job!!! :)
